League: International League
History: The original Bisons were charter members of the International League in 1879. Buffalo’s other stint in the majors was in the Federal League of 1914-15. Curiously, Buffalo was a member of Branch Rickey’s Continental League, which never actually took the field, but helped prompt the first wave of MLB expansion. The ’59 Bisons ran away with the pennant, led by the hitting of Cuban-born Panch Herrera, who also was the International League’s MVP for 1959.
