In the mid-1980s, the SAF adopted a general issue camouflage uniform for all services, modeled after the US m1948 ERDL camouflage design. Introduced in 1983, it was initially supplied mainly to officers. Early versions, printed in South Korea, used non-colorfast dyes that quickly faded to a grayish-green shade.

This problem was addressed in later versions. The uniform, designated "Uniform Man's No.4 Dress Camouflage," features different shapes compared to the US ERDL design. The images below show early and later versions, highlighting the color differences between production runs.

These Singaporean Field Pants are reminiscent of the old school US jungle pants from the Vietnam-era. They come with two cargo pockets, two waist pockets and two rear pockets. They also come with waist adjustment tabs which may be velcro or button.
